This pH meter pH-009 is great to measure aquarium water, pool water and hydroponics fertilizer solution. Within a few seconds it will tell you the acidity of the water. The quality of your water is extremely important for the health of your plants. In nature they receive very pure rain water, which is slightly acidic. Tap and well water on the other hand can vary widely, depending on it's source. It can be as acidic as pH 5.8 or caustic at pH 7.9. Some water purifiers and ion exchange systems can even drop the pH of the purified water to 5.2. If your tap water is caustic with a pH higher than 7.0 you can drop it to the right pH by adding a few drops of vinegar. If it is acidic with a pH below 6.5 you can add a little baking soda to raise the pH. In Hydroponics many pH adjusters are offered. The pH measurement also depends on the temperature of the water. This high accuracy pH meter PH-009 has a built in temperature sensor and will automatically compensate for the right temperature and also display the temperature in Degree Celsius. Two calibration solutions (pH 4.0 and pH 6.86) are included. It comes in a stable blue plastic case.
